Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game Announced with a Trailer

During New York Comic Con, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game was officially announced. It’s a 2D fighting game based on the universe of Avatar: The Last Airbender, coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 in the summer of next year.

Developed by the debut studio Gameplay Group International, the game features hand-drawn 2D graphics that faithfully capture the animated series’ art style and atmosphere.

A Diverse Roster and Gameplay Depth

At launch, the game will include twelve different characters. More fighters will be added later through a Season Pass system.

Designed as a tribute to classic fighting games, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game aims to combine technical depth with the fluid style and spirit of the Avatar universe.

Here are the key features of the game:

  • 12 Playable Characters at launch, with many more released via Season Model
  • Selectable support characters influence your fighting style and grant special moves
  • Unique “Flow System” w/Movement Centric Gameplay
  • Single Player Campaign w/Original Narrative
  • Combo Trials
  • Gallery Mode
  • Best in Class Net Code and Cross Play

Clearly inspired by the popularity of the animated series, the game also introduces some exciting new ideas. One of them is the Flow System, a combat mechanic focused on movement and spatial control.

In addition, players can choose support characters during matches. These allies can assist in battle, adding extra tactical depth to each fight.
