Avexir Core Series DDR3 2400MHz 16GB Memory Kit Review

This is the first kit we’ve had come in from Avexir, and is actually our first 16GB kit from anyone consisting of two 8GB modules so we were a bit skeptical in a way as to how they would perform but from the stock performance we had on offer, they showed that they can clearly compete with the likes of G.Skill, Kingston and Patriot, especially on the higher-end of the scale.

Overclocking was also something worth shouting about as we decided to take two different angles with this memory; the first pushing them to the limits no matter what the timings and while we did manage to increase the speed by 100MHz, the bandwidth did suffer slightly showing that Avexir have put their research into the modules and the ICs to give prime performance at stock speeds. On the other hand, we did manage to push the speed slightly past 2400MHz while keeping the timings at their rated numbers and this is where the kit really did blow our minds, with some of the best numbers we’ve seen from any kit, especially one consisting of the larger than industry standard 8GB modules.

Another key area that I want to comment on is the styling and design. Generally when you find enthusiast memory, you’ll find them with some ghastly heatspreaders that simply makes it look like it’s wearing some kind of headscarf. Avexir have taken the simpler approach, making it appeal to consumers with larger CPU coolers that may be obstructed by larger modules with huge heatspreaders. The icing on the cake has to be the LEDs which we only generally see with Crucial and their Ballistix Tracer line of products but Avexir have managed to do something a bit different, and that’s what is putting this company on the map in our opinion.

Everywhere we look, we keep seeing Avexir pop up, whether it be on forums or Facebook, they simply are everywhere. You have probably not heard much about Avexir, but you would have heard from them in some capacity or other and it seems they have a strong marketing team by handing out as many samples as possible to a variety of review sites and influential forum members to get their branding and products out there to the market and it really does seem to be working.

If this 16GB 2400MHz kit is anything to go by, we can’t wait to see what else is on offer and we can only give a word of warning to other memory manufacturers to watch their backs as it seems Avexir could be rivalling the market, which is great for consumers as it should mean that you’ll find faster, larger capacity memory kits on the market, for a lower price.
