Avowed to Launch Cheaper on PS5 Than Its Original Xbox Release
Avowed will officially release on February 17 for PlayStation 5, following its earlier exclusivity period on PC and Xbox Series X|S. However, PlayStation players will enjoy a nice surprise — the game will be cheaper at launch than it was on Xbox.
Microsoft has decided to reduce the price of Avowed across all platforms, not just on PS5. The standard edition will now cost $49.99, down from its original price of $69.99.
Details About the Price Cuts
New Xbox and PC players will also benefit from this price drop, but those who purchased Avowed on day one for Xbox paid more than PlayStation users will at launch. Essentially, this is a permanent $20 discount.
The Premium Edition will also be cheaper, priced at $59.99, which is only ten dollars more than the standard version. At launch on Xbox, this same edition was priced at $89.99, making the discount even more significant. Players who buy the standard version can later upgrade to the premium edition if they wish.
It’s not uncommon for a video game’s price to be permanently reduced a year after release. This new lower price could be a smart strategy by Microsoft to encourage PlayStation players to give Avowed a chance. While the game received positive reviews, it wasn’t universally praised at launch.
