When it comes to games now, you can’t just buy the game itself. Every game comes with escalating variations and packages, with exclusive offers giving you access to different pre-order DLC’s or models depending on how much extra you want to pay. Should you not want to pay that little extra Battlefield 1 is going to let you collect all of those collectibles without having to worry about a big cost upgrade. The reason for the discount? The bundle comes without the game.
That is correct, you can now pre-order a collectors edition of a game without even getting the game. The new Amazon exclusive collectors edition includes everything else except the digital game the package is named after. As described by Amazon:
“The Battlefield 1 Amazon Exclusive Collector’s Edition includes Collector’s Edition Statue (14″ Tall), Exclusive Steel book, Exclusive cloth poster, Deck of playing cards, Messenger pigeon tube with exclusive DLC content, Exclusive patch, and Premium packaging. This bundle does not include the game”
At $129.99, the package may appeal to anyone who wants to preorder a copy of the game without having to cancel and re-order the upgraded editions but for many this may seem a step too far.
What do you think? Should all of these exclusive bonuses be offered as separate orders are we just getting swamped by too many pre-order bonuses and benefits for games which often have issues at launch? After all, it means anyone with the base game can upgrade to this bundle easily.
