Battlefield: Redsec Arrives Today!

The new Battle Royale mode, officially titled Battlefield: Redsec, is releasing today! According to a surprise post on X (formerly Twitter), the mode will go live at 4 pm UK time (8 am PT/11 am ET).

This announcement follows a flurry of leaks about the mode’s rollout date and its name, which likely prompted the rapid-fire official reveal from EA.

Key Features Revealed So Far:

  • Title: Battlefield: Redsec
  • Availability: Launching today, October 28th, at 4 pm UK.
  • Cost: Free to play, just like its main competitor and inspiration, Call of Duty: Warzone.

What We Think: The Free-to-Play Question

The most interesting detail is that Redsec will be free-to-play. This mirrors the incredibly successful model of Warzone, but it immediately raises a few questions. How exactly will the free Battle Royale intersect with the full, premium-priced Battlefield 6 game? At this point, no further details have been officially revealed.

The teaser image shared on X doesn’t offer much in the way of clues, either it simply shows four soldiers, who appear to be different classes, walking away from a crashed airliner in what looks like a burning residential neighbourhood. It’s safe to say this was a quick announcement to get ahead of the leaks, but frankly, it doesn’t matter too much, as we won’t have to wait long to see all the details unfold.

More Info

All the specifics about the new Battlefield: Redsec mode, including how the free and paid versions of the game will coexist, are expected to be unveiled as the mode launches later today. Keep an eye out for further updates once the servers go live!

Where to Play

Battlefield: Redsec is a free-to-play Battle Royale mode launching today as part of the Battlefield 6 Season 1 update. You can expect to download and play the mode across all platforms where the main game is available, such as Steam or Epic.
