Battlefield Redsec Faces Review Bombing, But Not for the Usual Reason
Battlefield Redsec is the battle royale mode of Battlefield, and—much like Call of Duty: Warzone—it is connected to Battlefield 6.
This connection hasn’t pleased everyone. Many players have decided to engage in classic review bombing on Steam, posting a large number of negative reviews. At the time of writing, the Steam rating stands at 44%.
Why Players Are Angry at Battlefield Redsec
Fans of Battlefield 6 are leaving negative reviews to criticize the integration of Battlefield Redsec. With the launch of Season 1, new weekly challenges were introduced, and some of them require players to play the battle royale mode. Although Redsec is free to play, not everyone wants to join just to progress through the Battlefield 6 battle pass.
One Steam user explained: “Bought Battlefield 6 to play Battlefield, bought Battle Pass for Battlefield 6, look inside half of my weekly challenges are for the battle royale that I won’t be playing.”
Other users echoed this sentiment, pointing out that even though weekly challenges can be changed, many are still linked to Redsec—leading some to believe the developers are trying to push players into the mode who otherwise wouldn’t touch it.
Some Players Actually Praise Redsec
Interestingly, not all feedback is negative. A second wave of comments actually praises Redsec. Some players claim that the maps in Battlefield 6 aren’t large enough and that the battle royale mode delivers a true Battlefield-style experience thanks to larger areas and more destructible environments.
These fans say they would love to see the same gameplay style applied to traditional multiplayer modes.
