be quiet! Dark Perk Ergo Mouse Review
Famous for its high-performance cooling and power supplies, with its relentless focus on near-silent performance, be quiet! has officially entered the peripheral market with the Dark Perk series. It wasn’t that long ago we took at look at their new keyboards, and they’re certainly impressive. However, now it’s time to complete the peripheral ecosystem with their new high-end gaming mice are specifically engineered for competitive eSports and PC enthusiasts who demand precision without the weight. There are two models available, the Dark Perk Ergo and Dark Perk Sym, which cater to a wide range of grip styles and hand orientations. I have the Ergo to hand today, which is designed for right handed use, and as you might guess, the Sym is symetrical and ideal for left or right handed use or different play/grip styles. Furthermore, they both combine an ultralight 55g chassis with top-tier internal components, ensuring no matter which you choose, you’re getting the same premium user experience.
Ultra-Lightweight Performance
The standout feature of the Dark Perk series is its wireless freedom and ultra-light design. Featuring an innovative wireless system, it allows for a massive 110-hour battery life at a standard 1,000Hz polling rate, giving you more time to work and play, and less time tethered to the Type-C charging cable. When a recharge is necessary, the included 1.8m braided USB-C cable supports play-and-charge functionality and if you really wanted to, you could just straight up use it in Wired mode anyway.
Key Features
- Ultralight 55g Chassis: Minimises inertia for lightning-fast flicks and reduces wrist strain.
- Dual Form Factors: Available in Ergonomic (right-handed) or Symmetrical (ambidextrous) shapes.
- Long-lasting Battery: Up to 110 hours of continuous gameplay per charge.
- Optical Omron Switches: D2FP-FN2 switches offer near-instant actuation and a silent sound profile.
- be quiet! IO Center: Comprehensive software and web-app support for macro and DPI customisation.
- Privacy-Focused Design: Onboard memory stores profiles locally without the need for an online account.
- 100% PTFE Skates: Rounded-edge feet for a smooth, snag-free glide on any surface.
Under the hood, the Dark Perk series utilizes the PixArt PAW3950, widely considered one of the best optical sensor available. This sensor provides an incredible native resolution of up to 32,000 DPI and supports a hyper-fast 8,000Hz polling rate in both wired and wireless modes. This reduces input latency to just 0.125ms, providing the ultra-responsive feedback required for high-stakes competitive play. The inclusion of a dedicated physical DPI switch on the base of the mouse further enhances tactical control, allowing for on-the-fly sensitivity adjustments without interrupting the on-screen action. However, keep in mind if you want the maximum battery life, you’ll want to switch back to 1000Hz modes, which to be honest, is more than enough Hz for myself, but that’s really down to you as the user.
