Be Quiet Pure Base 500DX Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The be quiet! Pure Base 500DX is available from most major retailers already, and in the UK you can expect to pay just £89.99 for all its goodness. That’s an amazing deal given that it offers more features, more fans, and more ARGB lighting than the previous model while barely costing any more. Those fans are £12 each on their own!

Overview

be quiet! has absolutely nailed it this time, and the Pure Base 500DX takes an already very good PC case and amps it up quite a bit. What’s interesting is that it’s beating its main rivals. Take the Fractal Design Meshify C, this has better cooling support, more SSD mounts, built-in lighting, and it’s cheaper. I do like the Meshify C, but well, the 500DX is just more for your money and that’s what I would buy.

Build Quality

Durable steel construction throughout and a tempered glass window, you can’t really go wrong with that. Plus, this being be quiet! there’s a modest application of noise dampening materials, anti-vibration pads, and cleanly fitting panels to ensure it doesn’t rattle or buzz. They pride themselves on quality and it shows from every angle here. The USB Type-C integration could have looked cleaner, but honestly, it’s a very minor detail.

Versatile

For a case this size, it is certainly very capable. Out of the box, it’s setup for air cooled builds, but with every major component mounted with thumbscrews, you could strip it bare, move all the drive bays, and get modding in no time too. Plus, it’ll handle a pretty hefty custom loop configuration if that’s your thing too.

Should I Buy One?

I honestly think this is one of the best PC cases I’ve seen in a while. I actually say that a lot recently, but brands have really upped their game. A few years ago this case would have been triple the price. Amazing build quality, modular, easy access dust filters, built-in ARGB lighting, USB C, tempered glass, it has it all, and the price isn’t going to slay your wallet. Highly recommended.
