A Closer Look – Exterior

The Pure Base 600 isn’t the most exciting-looking chassis in the world, but it’s hardly ugly either. The left side panel is just a solid black panel, but keep in mind that this chassis is designed for quiet performance, and the thicker panels are perfect for taming unwanted noises from your components. Down the left side of the front panel, so side ventilation for the front mounted cooling, and the indirect airflow should again help reduce any fan noise from here.

Another blank panel on the right, and another air intake on the right side of the front panel.

The front panel is sleek and understated, with an all black design, although there is another variant available where the air intake trim is finished in silver if you want something that looks a little fancier. There are two 5.25″ drive bay covers towards the top, and a small be quiet! logo at the bottom, but otherwise it’s designed to look smart yet not draw too much attention.

The front I/O is simple enough, and features a nicely designed power button, a small reset button, HDD LED, dual USB 3.0 ports, HD Audio jacks, and a three-speed fan controller.

Around the back, everything pretty standard. You’ll find a rear fan mount, 7 expansion slots for an ATX motherboard, and the PSU cut-out, which supports normal and inverse mounting.

The top panel design is quite clever, it’s a solid panel with just a little bit of ventilation towards the rear, but as you’ll see in a few minutes, it has a neat little trick for extra airflow, without compromising (too much) on acoustic performance.

On the base, four large feet with rubber grips give a decent amount of ground clearance, allowing plenty of airflow to the PSU air intake, which comes with a large slide-out and washable dust filter for easy maintenance.
