be quiet! Pure Rock LP CPU Cooler Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The be quiet! Pure Rock LP is available to purchase with consumers looking at a price in the region of £44.99. – A price which, I think many will agree, is surprisingly low for not just a relatively specialist low-profile product, but one that has clearly been both designed and assembled to the highest of manufacturing standards.

Lest we forget too that this comes with a pretty substantial 3-year warranty making this even more excellent value for money.

Overview

While the installation methodology is both confusing and unnecessarily complicated, this does nothing to take away from the fact that in terms of performance, the be quiet! Pure Rock LP is an absolutely fantastic low-profile cooling solution. – No, it’s certainly not a market leader in terms of temperature control, but for something which only sits 45mm tall, would you really expect it to be?… – And even in this regard, the results provided in our testing only showed it to be modestly outperformed by significantly larger (and in most cases, notably more expensive) cooling solutions.

Without a doubt, however, the most amazing aspect of the be quite! Pure Rock LP is the fact that its acoustic performance is incredible. At system idle, this is barely audible and even at load, it is still, by far and away, one of the quietest CPU coolers we’ve ever tested.

Overall, in terms of performance, the be quite Pure Rock LP is incredible in achieving what it does out of such a small footprint!

Should I Buy One?

I believe that this question ultimately comes down to your needs and requirements. For those of you looking at creating a new MITX or micro-system design, then the Pure Rock LP is undoubtedly one of the best cooling solutions you can get. And not just in terms of compatibility, but for also offering excellent levels of CPU and acoustic performance.

For larger mid-tower systems, however, or those looking for obscenely small and potent systems, it’s a bit of a trickier sell. With be quiet! suggesting a TDP limit of 100W, this almost certainly rules out its practicality among the highest-end of modern processors.

Overall though, presuming the stars align with your build concept, then the be quiet! Pure Rock LP is an excellent low-profile cooling solution and quite possibly the best available within that particular sector right now. With a highly attractive price point too, if you’re looking at a compact cooling solution and this isn’t at least on your shortlist, then you possibly need to rethink your plans!

Pros

  • Excellent cooling performance for such a small footprint
  • Incredible levels of acoustic performance – Barely audible at idle!
  • Sleek and smart aesthetics – Wouldn’t look out of place in any kind of system build
  • Build quality is top-notch!
  • Huge 3-year warranty

Cons

  • Another poor/confusing installation methodology from be quiet!

Neutral

  • Limited to 100W TDP processors
