The be quiet! Shadow Wings 2 fan is available primarily in 4 different designs. These range from fan size to the way in which the fan speed is controlled. With them being offered in both 120mm and 140mm options, however, these should provide a highly attractive alternative to the vast majority of systems airflow or cooling requirements.
We shall detail the models below.
The first fan is the Shadow Wings 2 120mm. This design is based on an FLX style fan design. For those of you unaware, this generally tends to refer to the fan having 3 fixed speeds and as such usually falls ideal for systems which do not have a hugely demanding cooling requirement. The fan will operate off 3 ‘standard’ speeds and will only rotate between these as required.

The 140mm variant again is controlled by an FLX style design. Despite the larger size of this fan though, the 900RPM should keep noise levels low. The 140mm design, it should be noted, means that as an intake chassis fan, this could prove highly useful.

The key difference between this fan and the standard FLX design is that the 4-pin PWM allows for a much more micro-managed control of the fan speed. It can be set and varied at practically any speed up to its maximum rated of 1100rpm. The option makes this fan a very viable option for a much more professional and quieter CPU cooler, AIO radiator fan or even as an intake or exhaust vent.

We finally see the 140mm variant of the PWM (4-pin) design fan. As above, the 140mm design makes this primarily attractive towards front chassis intake (or exhaust) vents. With the fine control of the PWM design, you can ensure that these run as powerfully or as quietly as you require.

In terms of testing, there isn’t a particularly reliable manner in which we can see just how well they perform. In this regard, however, we believe that there are two primarily important factors. Specifically their noise level and how closely they match the rated speed. We therefore hooked them up to our system and saw just how good they really were!
