War, War Never Changes – But Prizes do!!!
Fallout Shelter, the popular free to play vault simulator has been released for just over a year now. In that time it has achieved a strong following for it’s fun to play, but hard to succeed game play style. The premise of the game is managing your fall out shelter to best accommodate the safety and needs of your survivors.
As you can expect, the game isn’t necessarily easy, but a casual ‘mobile’ style game, it is fun. Fending off mutants, keeping your water supply running, it’s a hard job being an Overseer.
With Bethesda recently announcing that the game has received over 100m downloads, via GameSpot, they are feeling a little generous. They have, in addition, released some hilarious statistics during the game.
They are some crazy numbers and it just goes to show just how much people are enjoying this game.
It’s certainly a lot more light hearted than the recent smack on the hand Bethesda had to give HTC regarding VR claims.
Criticisms of Fallout Shelter
When it was originally released, there were some critics of Fallout Shelter. Particularly what some felt was a ‘pay to win’ philosophy’. I can confirm, for those of you not in that 100m, that the game is very slow paced. Well, it is if you don’t, literally, buy into it. That being said, that doesn’t make it any different to most free to play games and at least Fallout Shelter is well made and fun.
Bethesda, to celebrate the 100m download landmark has decided to reward its players with a bonus. Starting on September 15th, all you need to do is log in. That’s it. Once you do that Bethesda will automatically give you $10 worth of in-game credit. In addition, there will be significant boosts to daily tasks meaning you accrue those bottle caps even faster.
The event will run for 5 days and if you haven’t already tried Fallout Shelter, I can’t think of a better time to give it a go.
