BIOS Update for ASUS 200-series Motherboards Adds Intel Optane Memory Support

Intel’s Optane Memory Technology is at the cutting edge of non-volatile memory performance, bringing unprecedented speeds that leave many other consumer solid-state solutions in the dust. Now ASUS has rolled out a BIOS update that brings full support for this technology on their 200-series mainboards across all chipsets including Z270, H270, Q270 and B250 units. Select models such as the ROG MAXIMUS IX series as well as the TUF Z270 Mark 1 model can use the USB BIOS Flashback to install the latest Optane memory technology update, although all of them can be installed using ASUS’ EZ Flash 3 utility within the UEFI.

The first consumer Optane memory technology drives utilize an M.2 form factor and are designed to be used as ultra-fast caching drives for slower storage devices such as traditional mechanical platter hard drives. Fast caching capability gives these mechanical drives much improved boot times and faster load times for frequently accessed applications.
