BIOSTAR Reveal Affordable B860MT-E Pro Gaming Motherboard

BIOSTAR has just revealed their new B860MT-E PRO motherboard, which they say is “designed to meet the growing needs of modern office users, home entertainment, and mid-range gaming”. While it may not be the most exciting motherboard we’ve ever seen, I love stuff like this. There’s no shortage of high-end stuff on the market, and prices are going crazy in recent years. However, with the B860MT-E PRO, you get just enough features to build a system without breaking the bank. It is built on Intel’s B860 single-chip architecture and comes with support for the latest Intel Core Ultra 9/7/5 processors. So while it isn’t crazy high-end there’s really no limitation on the CPU support.

With support for up to 256 GB of 4-DIMM DDR5 memory, and featuring PCIe 5.0 M.2, you can also get the best from your memory and the latest ultra-fast storage solutions. Biostar says the board comes with advanced Digital PWM technology, ensuring stable and efficient power delivery, and has Dr. MOS support, allowing for some overclocking too.

The design isn’t crazy, but it still looks tidy enough, and features VIVID LED DJ+RGB Sync and LED ROCK ZONE. Of course, by the time you get a CPU cooler and GPU in here, you’ll hardly see most of the motherboard anyway.
There are some quality-of-life features, such as the M.2 Ancho. The Auto Installer and Smart Update tools allow for easy driver installation and updates, and it features a micro-AX form factor, which are becoming pretty rare these days, making it ideal for smaller ATX cases.
There’s reasonable connectivity too, with WiFi, HDMI, DisplayPort, plenty of USB ports, audio jacks, and even 2.5 GbE LAN built-in.
- Two Wi-Fi antenna ports
- One HDMI 2.1 port
- Two DisplayPort 1.2 ports
- Four USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports
- Two USB 2.0 ports
- One 2.5 Gigabit LAN port (Realtek RTL8125D controller)
- One PS/2 keyboard/mouse port
- Three audio jacks (Realtek ALC897 codec)
- 7.1-channel high-definition audio
While Biostar hasn’t revealed the price just yet, we’ll hear more soon enough as this board heads out to retail. Either way, if you’re looking for an affordable mid-budget Micro-ATX board, it’s one to keep an eye out for.
