Biwin M560 2TB PCIe Gen5 SSD Review

BIWIN is one of the core manufacturers of storage solutions in the current market, making for other premium brands, but based on our own reviews and personal usage, have some class-leading products of their own too. With the launch of their new M560 2TB PCIe Gen5 NVMe SSD, they’re set to prove that once again, with high-end performance design to meet the needs of the high-end PC enthusiasts, gamers, and professionals With the latest Gen5 speeds, this drive is perfectly suited for demanding use cases such as high-resolution video editing, AI workflows, and best of all, loading up your games as fast as possible so you’re not waiting to start the action. Fast read and write speeds, as well as low access times are also great for day-to-day desktop usage too, as it drastically reduces file transfer times and improves overall system responsiveness, making it an excellent choice for those looking to upgrade their primary storage.
BIWIN M560
The storage market is packed with competitive options, but with its focus on high-end speeds, and built around an advanced 6nm controller, their latest drive manages to keep its average power consumption low, and its single-sided form factor, both ensure it’s prime choice for laptop and notebooks. However, with its high-end speeds and capacity options, it’s still a fantastic option for any desktop PC user too. Furthermore, BIWIN has integrated advanced LDPC error correction and intelligent wear-levelling technologies to maintain data integrity and extend the lifespan of the drive over years of heavy usage, a vital inclusion for anyone that’s a heavy desktop user like myself.

Specifications
When looking at the technical capabilities of the 2TB model, it certainly appears to be a top-tier storage solution capable of handling the most demanding tasks. Despite being a DRAM-less design, it pushes the limits of the Gen5 interface to deliver sequential read and write speeds that easily outpace previous generation drives. Obviously, a lot of drives are shifting to modern DRAM-less designs, given the price of DRAM, skipping that part can keep the retail price of the SSD much lower right now. The random read and write operations are equally impressive, ensuring that countless small files can be accessed almost instantly. This level of performance is backed by a impressive endurance rating and it’s backed by a very impressive 5-years warranty, giving you peace of mind that your drive is built to last.

Packaging & Accessories

The box for this drives looks nice enough, with a light blue and white design, featuring a clear photo of the drive on the front of the box, which features a similar colour scheme in the usual BIWIN light blue colours. On the front we can see the model number, but around the back, there’s a sticker showing you the capacity, speeds, and slot compatibility, covering everything you’re likely to need at a glance.

Interesting, the drive comes bundled with a handy like M.2 screw driver, and if you haven’t tinkered with an M.2 screw, this is a handy thing to have, as it’s a surprisingly tiny screw. However, this little tool can also be used to open up the drive bay on most laptops, the PlayStation 5, or just to remove the appropriate heatsink on your motherboard too. But overall, it’s well packaged, ensuring you have a well protected drive in transit, and the tools needed to install it.
