Online Shopping Black Friday 2016

Commercialism is in an all-time high with sales figures from Adobe’s online shopping data revealing a staggering total of $5.27 billion in sales counted from Thanksgiving Day and through the end of day on Black Friday. This also makes it the highest record set for Black Friday only with $3.34 billion while mobile sales revenue also set its own record, reaching over a billion for the first time to settle to a $1.2 billion total. Consumers spent $1.93 billion on Thanksgiving day, an 11.5% increase compared to 2015 figures.

The largest price drops were seen for tablets this season, averaging 25.4% while televisions followed closely at 23.2%. Not all prices were at their lowest however, with video game consoles actually selling for 3.2% higher on average. The most popular of which is the PlayStation 4, topping the Microsoft Xbox One as the best selling video-game console of the season for the entire month (Microsoft’s Xbox sold more during Black Friday and Thanksgiving days however), while Pokemon Sun and Moon tops the video game sales followed closely by Call of Duty.

The five top selling electronic products on Black Friday were Apple iPads, Samsung 4K TVs, Apple MacBook Air, LG TVs and Microsoft Xbox.

“Shoppers hit the buy button at unprecedented levels as conversion rates were up nearly a full percent across all devices in the evening hours on Black Friday,” according to Tamara Gaffney, principal analyst at Adobe Digital Insights. Adobe’s online shopping report is based on aggregated data from 22.6 billion visits to retail websites, measuring 80% of all online transactions from the top 100 US retailers.
