Bloodborne Remake Blocked by FromSoftware Despite Sony’s Approval
For many years, players have been asking for a Bloodborne remake, but Sony has continued to leave FromSoftware’s 2015 masterpiece locked to its original PS4 version. New details now explain why a Bloodborne Remake seems more unlikely than ever.
Shortly after the closure of Bluepoint Games, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier revealed that the studio had considered developing a remake of the action RPG, similar to what it previously did with Demon’s Souls. The idea reportedly came up in early 2025, and Sony was open to the proposal, believing the numbers were reasonable enough to move forward.
Sony Approved the Idea, But Miyazaki Said No
Despite Sony’s positive response, the project was stopped. The reason is that Bloodborne’s original creator, Hidetaka Miyazaki, was against a remake that would not be handled internally by FromSoftware.
According to former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida, Miyazaki would be interested in working on a Bloodborne remake himself, but he is currently too busy to take on the project. At the same time, he does not want another studio to handle it. This has led to the current situation, where the remake remains stuck.
Yoshida believes that PlayStation will respect Miyazaki’s wishes and will not release a remake developed by an external studio, even though Sony owns the rights to the intellectual property.
Hidetaka Miyazaki is known for creating several major titles that have left a strong mark on the gaming world. However, Bloodborne is said to be the most special project he has ever created.
