Buffalo Announces Unmanaged BS-MP20 10GbE Network Switches

BS-MP20

Buffalo wants to make it easier for SOHO and SMB users to enter the market of 10-gigabit ethernet networking and for this, they are launching a new series of unmanaged 10GbE network switches. The new switches are called the BS-MP20 series and come in either 8 or 12-port versions.

The new switch series is brand new and it wasn’t so easy to dig up much information on the BS-MP20 series yet. As we see, the new series is pretty much identical to the previous L2 managed switch series from the company. The new entry-level unmanaged 10GbE switches will enable high speeds of 2.5, 5, and 10GbE for businesses in an affordable and easy to use solution. No management equals less hassle, at least if you don’t need advanced routeing functions.

“Our switches offer an affordable, quick and easy solution to extend a business network with plug and play installation. With speeds of up to 10GbE, eco-minded operation, performance-minded features and a lifetime warranty, Buffalo’s BS-MP20 series of switches is a great way for SMBs to enter the 2.5, 5, and 10GbE market,” said Raj Patel, B2B Manager

The BS-MP20 switches feature NBASE-T (IEE802.3bz) which allows for higher data transfer speeds within existing environments. With being IEEE 802.3bz compliant, users can achieve connection speeds at 2.5, 5, and 10 Gbps. This could eliminate the need to upgrade other parts of the infrastructure such as laying CAT7 cables. By using the intermediate speeds of 2.5 or 5 Gbps, businesses can take advantage of increased bandwidth over 1GbE, while putting off cable plant upgrades until it’s more economically feasible.

Buffalo didn’t reveal a price for the new unmanaged BS-MP20 series of switches nor a time of availability.
