Having 10Gigabit-enabled devices isn’t enough, you also need a switch in order to connect those devices with each other. Buffalo released the new BS-XP series of 10GbE switches with the purpose to allow an easy, cost efficient, and energy-efficient way to extend your business network with ten times the speed.

The BS-XP series of switches come in two versions, an 8-port model and a 12-port model, but otherwise, they’re the same. The plug-and-play installation requires no additional software or configuration and users can simply plug their 10Gbps network devices into one of the available Ethernet ports. The ports use AUTO-MDIX in order to automatically detect and configures the correct connection while optional jumbo frame support and full-duplex operation provide maximum performance.

Along with 802.3az Green Ethernet technology, the BS-XP series includes intelligent Power Control which is an energy conservation feature that monitors the activity status of each port to reduce the total power consumed. There aren’t many advanced features in these switches, but there are a few. There is support for IEEE802.3x Flow Control, loop detection, bad packet filtering, VLAN feature, QoS, and Link Aggregation.

Everything packed in a metal chassis that’s equipped with holes for wall-mounting as well as rubber feet for an easy placement on the desktop, should you prefer that setup.

Its durable, metal chassis is equipped with holes for wall-mounting or rubber feet for easy placement on a desktop. With 10GbE speeds, eco-minded operation, performance-minded features and a lifetime warranty, Buffalo’s BS-XP series of switches could be a perfect network extension for your business.

Buffalo didn’t announce any pricing at this time, but with the wording and limited features, we can expect these new BS-XP 8-port and 12-port switches to be relatively cheap compared to other 10GbE offerings.
