Canceled PlayStation Exclusive “Project Ooze” Resurfaces in Alleged Gameplay Videos
The leaker Dusk Golem has shared two alleged gameplay videos of what was supposed to be the PlayStation exclusive developed by Deviation Games for Sony, known as “Project Ooze” or “Draconis.”
From what can be seen, the game appeared to be a third-person shooter with a fairly traditional setup for the genre, featuring a sci-fi environment that looked quite intriguing.
The project was developed by the Deviation team, founded by Jason Blundell and Dave Anthony, both veterans of Call of Duty. The studio was later shut down, leading to the project’s cancellation.
A Sci-Fi Shooter That Never Saw the Light
According to Dusk Golem, the two short videos come from a longer one-hour gameplay video that showed the game in an early development phase, dating back to around four years ago.
In total, about ten minutes of footage have been shared, revealing a clearly unfinished build, lacking several graphical elements and general optimization.
Still, the game’s structure and overall style can be seen: the mechanics fit perfectly within the traditional third-person shooter framework, reminiscent of Gears of War, while the setting features alien sci-fi threats.
For a long time, fans believed Deviation’s project was a first-person shooter, but the leaked videos suggest it was actually third-person.
The title was ultimately canceled, and Jason Blundell has since moved to Dark Outlaw Games, a new PlayStation Studios team.
