Capcom Targets Adult Resident Evil Mods, YouTube Suspends Channel
Capcom has taken action against the YouTube channel GrizzoUK, which is known for posting videos of adult mods for games like Resident Evil Requiem. The creator claims that the company asked him to remove a large amount of content.
The situation became public through a video from the YouTuber and a report by Kotaku. According to that report, Capcom contacted him and requested the removal of videos focused on mods described as “adult-oriented.”
Capcom Cracks Down on Adult Mods
GrizzoUK shared what he said was an email from Capcom’s legal team. In the message, the company explained that these types of mods using its characters go against its rules and asked for the flagged videos to be removed.
The creator replied by asking why his channel was being targeted when other users had posted similar content. Shortly after that, YouTube temporarily suspended his account for “repeated violations” of its policy on nudity and sexual content.
The channel was later restored after the creator deleted the flagged videos and submitted an appeal.
Capcom’s policies do address this kind of content. While the company allows gameplay videos, reviews, guides, and other types of content, it clearly states that it does not allow material created with its games that is sexually explicit, offensive, or inappropriate. The company also reserves the right to remove such content on a case-by-case basis.
In addition, Capcom’s policy explains that it should not be seen as permission to create mods or derivative works using its games without approval.
Following this situation, GrizzoUK suggested that he will stop posting clothing mods for Capcom games. For now, he plans to limit his Resident Evil content to weapon mods instead.
