Cherry Xtrfy M42V2 Ultra-Light Gaming Mouse Review

Cherry are best known, at least in my opinion, for their mechanical switches. But did you know they also make keyboards and mice themselves? What better way to capture the gaming market than in their own products! Well, the new Cherry Xtrfy M42V2 is here, offering up a new ultra-light gaming mouse designed by Cherry Xtrfy to deliver competitive performance for the competitive esports enthusiasts out there, but at a price that means it’s still attainable by at-home gaming enthusiasts and more casual players too.
I was a little confused by the name though, Cherry Xtrfy? Well, if you didn’t know, or you forgot like I did, Cherry actually bought out gaming brand Xtrfy a few years back. I’ve actually reviewed a few Xtrfy mice over the years, and they’ve all been rather excellent, so with Cherry in the mix, I have high hopes for the X42V2. At just £39.99, it’s obviously not the most extreme gaming mouse on the market, but it doesn’t have to be, and with a solid set of components, it may even be a bit of a bargain for gamers.
“I’ve tried a lot of gaming mice over the years, and the M42V2 surprised me. At this price point, it’s the best-feeling mouse I’ve ever tried. The shape, the weight and the clicks just feel right. It shows that you don’t have to spend a lot to get a great gaming mouse”, says Emil “HeatoN” Christensen, eight-time Counter-Strike world champion and Esports Hall of Fame inductee.

Cherry Xtrfy M42V2
Targeted at PC gamers who value speed and precision across fast-paced shooters and other competitive titles, the M32V2 comes with a unique tool-free modular design, featuring two top panels to adjust the fit for your hand. While it’s a right-handed design, the shape is symmetrical, which some people just prefer the feel of, and it also keeps the mouse perfectly balanced too. The Cherry Xtrfy M42V2 distinguishes itself through a feather light 45-gram design (excluding cable), solid-shell construction that achieves its low weight without resorting to honeycomb cutouts or distracting holes that gather dust and grime. All adjustments including CPI, polling rate, lift-off distance, and debounce time are handled directly on the hardware on the fly, keeping gameplay uninterrupted and removing the need for any desktop software, which will please many gamers I’m sure. Furthermore, the inclusion of a matte UV coating, UHMW-PE mouse glides, and the a flexible Cherry Xtrfy EZcord cable ensures friction-free movement and enhanced durability.
