Chillblast Samurai 1060 Ultra Slim Gaming Laptop Review

Final Thoughts

The Chillblast Samurai GTX 1060 Ultra-Slim Gaming Laptop is available from Chillbast right now for just £1599.99. That’s a very competitive price, and with fast M.2 storage, 802.11ac WiFi, Windows 10, and a 5-year warranty, it’s value that’s going to be hard to beat. The only way you’ll beat that price is by sacrificing ergonomics, there is a premium here for the slim design, but that’s to be expected. Not fussed about size? The Chillblast Defiant is basically the same system in a thicker chassis but is only £1399.99.

The latest gaming laptop from Chillblast is one of my favourite laptops in recent years. It’s nothing too crazy in terms of design, which I actually like. It doesn’t have an “extreme” finish with big logos all over it, and the understated design would look just fine taking this into a meeting. Add to that the fact that it’s nice and slim, and not too heavy, I could really use this for day-to-day work and travel.

In the Office

With the powerful Intel i7-7700HQ, DDR4 memory, and extremely fast M.2 storage performance, the Samurai is a real workhorse. When it comes to those boring PowerPoint presentations, or multitasking a bunch of spreadsheets and Skype windows, it’ll certainly get the job done with ease.

Bored of working and the boss isn’t looking? Or perhaps you’re just round at a friend’s house for some LAN, or chilling at home? The Samurai is no slouch when it comes to gaming. The Full-HD screen looks great and the Nvidia GTX 1060 has enough power to run the latest games. Of course, you may not be hitting Ultra, but with medium to high settings, you’ll easily see frame rates above 60fps even in the latest games. That’s pretty fantastic for such a slim and sleek laptop such as this.

Build Quality

I’ve seen many pre-built laptops from system integrators, and they often have very similar designs. The Samurai Ultra-Slim has a really nice chassis design and while it lacks visual flair, it’s that stealthy understated finish that I actually love the most. It feels durable and robust without being too heavy. It’s slim enough that I could use it for travelling and I would have no issues carrying it around in my bag all day. The slim PSU design is a big help there too.

Should I Buy One?

It’s certainly worthy of your attention. Those seeking the best gaming performance without a care for ergonomics may want to spend more on something with the GTX 1070 and a thicker body design, but expect to pay another £100 or so for it. For those who want a competitive balance between ergonomics, power usage, weight, and gaming performance, the Samurai is every bit the focused weapon its name suggests.

  • Slim form factor
  • Great gaming performance
  • Powerful processor
  • Excellent M.2 storage performance
  • High-quality onboard audio
  • Perfect for the travelling gamer
  • Slim PSU pack
  • Nice quality HD display
  • RGB LED keyboard
  • Excellent connectivity options
  • 5-Year warranty

  • None

  • The smaller fans have a higher pitched noise than some laptops, but they’re not too noisy
  • This model only came equipped with 8GB, although 16GB may really hurt price in current market

“If you’re looking for a sleek and stealthy gaming laptop that you could use to play your favourite games both at home or in the office, the Chillblast Samurai is the perfect weapon to add to your collection.”
