Amazon has apparently been getting in a large amount of Chromebooks in the past few days. It now has a well stocked Chromebook line up from Acer and Samsung. Samsung’s range of Chromebooks start from $429.99 for the Wi-Fi only model and $499.99 for the 3G model. Acer’s as expected come in a lot cheaper at $379.99 for the Wi-Fi only model and $449.99 for the 3G model.
All the Chromebooks feature essentially the same hardware set up. Intel’s atom 1.66GHz dual core CPU which has a TDP of just 8.5W under full load so expect good batttery life. You also get 2GB of RAM and a 16GB Solid State Drive for super fast boot times. The Battery will provide 8-9 hours of operation time and unforunately the chromebook will only support USB 2.0. The laptops all come with 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi as standard. The only notable difference between the Samsung and Acer models is the Samsung supports a 12.1″ screen compared to the Acer’s 11.6″ screen. The resolutions are also different, Acer has gone with 1366×768 while Samsung has gone with 1280×800.
