Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Is “85% of the Original Vision,” Says the Director
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a game loved and praised by many players for its high quality. For most, it’s hard to imagine a better version, but according to the developers, it’s actually not a complete game compared to their original vision. They believe it could have offered even more, especially regarding one specific character.
The information comes from Creative Director Guillaume Broche, who spoke with PCGamesN.
The Director’s Words on Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Broche, along with COO Francois Meurisse, explained that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 represents “85% of the original vision.”
“I think that we had this discussion with the team,” said Broche, adding that 85% is still an excellent result, considering how much games usually change during development.
Meurisse mentioned that seeing every element come together and the game being loved by players is 120% of what a game creator can dream of.
Broche said he has no “big regrets” about the game’s development but wished he could have done a “bit more with Esquie.”
He concluded by saying, “It’s something that we might want to do later, but overall I think we are all pretty, pretty happy [with] where we ended up.”
In related news, Jennifer Svedberg-Yen, the writer of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, had never played a video game before creating its acclaimed story.
