CM Storm Alcor Optical Gaming Mouse Review

Final Thoughts

Price

The CM Storm Alcor is a very affordable £30 from most major retailers. This is fantastic value for money given the performance and quality that the mouse and it’s tough competition for other mice in this price range.

Overview

I’m very impressed with the new Alcor mouse from CM Storm. Sure, it’s not the greatest mouse I’ve ever tested, but when you start shopping around the £30 price mark, you quickly realise that there’s not so many big name brands available. There are some great mice available for under £40, but without a doubt, the Alcor can give every single one of them a run for their money. The sensor performance is on par with a mouse that costs twice as much and that in itself makes this a worthy purchase.

The ergonomics on this mouse are well balanced. I have quite large hands and still found this mouse comfortable to use, but it’s still perfectly suitable for younger users with smaller hands too. There’s not a lot of bonus features on this mouse, which may put off some, but all the basics are here. The Alcor is easy to use and the quick-DPI toggle buttons will no doubt appeal to gamers.

Build quality is very good and certainly feels better than a lot of the mice I’ve tested in this price range, where thin plastics are common place. The Alcor feels pretty tough and should survive a few knocks and bumps without any issues.

Overall, a great gaming mouse with just enough features to satisfy day-to-day users and gamers alike.

Pros

  • Excellent sensor performance
  • Competitive price
  • Ergonomic design
  • On-the-fly DPI switches

Cons

  • None

“The CM Storm Alcor is a fairly simple mouse with fantastic sensor performance. If you’re looking for an affordable mouse for work and gaming, the Alcor is one of the best budget mice on the market.”
