Colorful Breaks World Record with Ryzen 7 9800X3D at 7.33 GHz
Colorful has set a new world record for CPU speed using AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor. The record was achieved on Colorful’s iGame X870E Vulcan OC motherboard.
According to HWBot (thanks TechPowerUp), the record was submitted by an overclocker known as Hero, who managed to push the processor to an incredible 7,335.48 MHz (7.3 GHz) using liquid nitrogen cooling. This beats the previous record of 7,313.05 MHz by just over 20 MHz.
Pushing Ryzen 7 9800X3D to the Limit
This achievement shows how far modern CPUs can be pushed under extreme conditions. To reach this speed, the setup used liquid nitrogen to keep the processor cool at very low temperatures. Such conditions allow the CPU to hit speeds that are impossible with normal air or water cooling.
However, these overclocking records don’t reflect real-world or gaming performance. They focus on single-core speed and require special configurations that aren’t suitable for daily use.
Although this Ryzen 7 9800X3D record is impressive, it still doesn’t surpass the overall world record, which belongs to Intel’s Core i9-14900K running at 9.13 GHz under liquid helium cooling.
Even so, Colorful seems proud of this achievement, as it highlights the quality of their motherboard design and their ability to handle extreme overclocking.
