Colorful Unveils The iGame GTX 1070 Snake X-Top

iGame

Colorful is an add-in-board partner which specialises in the Chinese market and renowned for creating custom solutions with exceptional power circuitry. As a result, their graphics cards are useful for overclocking and trying to set impressive benchmarking scores. Recently, Colorful announced the iGame Snake X-Top GTX 1070 which bears the Snake eSports clan insignia. Apparently, the company is only releasing this card in a limited batch of 200 pieces for the retail market.

The GPU has a factory overclocked 1657MHz core, 1860MHz boost and 8000MHz GDDR5 memory. This is significantly cheaper than the 1607MHz base and 1797MHz boost used by the original GTX 1080 X-Top which the limited edition is based on. Other features include dual-BIOS, one with the overclocked clocks and another sporting NVIDIA’s reference specification. This is useful to check if the GPU is stable and any issues have arisen from an overclock and not the card itself. In terms of power delivery, the product has a 10-phase VRM which draws power from two 8-pin PCI-E connectors. This is quite substantial for a GTX 1070 and it will be interesting to see how the GPU overclocks with the additional power headroom.

As you might expect for a huge graphics card, there is backplate which reduces drooping and makes it feel more study. The backplate has several cut-outs to direct air onto the PCB and looks pretty special. Aesthetically speaking the GPU is stunning and it’s a shame that it won’t be available outside China and in greater numbers. According to VideoCardz, the iGame Snake X-Top GTX 1070 will retail for ¥3,999. Even though I’m not overly familiar with the eSports branding, it’s probably going to be popular among dedicated fans and samples may be provided to players as part of a sponsorship deal.
