Consumers Prefer Radeon RX 9060 XT 16 GB Over 8 GB Version, Driving Sales Success
AMD released two versions of the Radeon RX 9060 XT: one with 8 GB of video memory and another with 16 GB of video memory.
The 16 GB version offers better performance when 8 GB of memory is not enough. This usually happens when using a resolution higher than 1080p, or when high graphic settings are enabled.
The performance gap, combined with the small price difference between the two graphics cards, has led to the 16 GB version being much more popular, while the 8 GB version is not selling well.
Sales Data and Consumer Preferences
According to data from Mindfactory.de (thanks Wccftech), the 16 GB Radeon RX 9060 XT sold 345 units last week, while the 8 GB model only sold 5 units. This large difference shows that consumers prefer graphics cards with 16 GB of video memory, and 8 GB versions are no longer selling as easily as before.
The best-selling graphics card was the Radeon RX 9070 XT with 580 units sold, followed by the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti with 225 units and the GeForce RTX 5080 with 175 units. The GeForce RTX 5070 also performed well with 95 units sold, and the GeForce RTX 5090 had 85 units sold.
On Amazon, the 8 GB Radeon RX 9060 XT was ranked 73rd in sales, confirming that it is not a popular option. Hopefully, AMD and NVIDIA take note and avoid launching future models with only 8 GB of VRAM in the RX X060 and RTX X060 series.
In other news, AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 XT outsells Nvidia in Germany, capturing 65% of the GPU market with impressive sales, while Nvidia’s RTX 50 series struggles to keep up in this European market.
