Cooler Master CM Storm Reaper Aluminium Gaming Mouse Review

Final Thoughts

Available for around £55 the CM Storm Reaper isn’t overly cheap, but it is competitively priced, falling in line with similar specification mice from the likes of Roccat, Razer and Corsair (to name but a few). However, CM Storm have made what I think is one of the best looking mice on the market, the mixture of soft touch panels and the laser etched aluminium really make a statement. The mouse looks far more expensive that it actually is and while it’s still not exactly a cheap mouse, you do feel like your getting a good return on your investment.

Build quality is exceptional, a great compliment to the two other Aluminium range products from CM Storm that we recently reviewed, the Mech and the Pulse-R. We’ve come to expect robust build quality from CM Storm and they haven’t disappointed us, I am however impressed at how durable the mouse feels while also looking nimble and stylish.

There isn’t an over abundance of features here either, I often find gaming mice offer a little too much that you don’t need. The Reaper packs more than enough features for your average gamer, including a macros, programmable buttons, a wide range of DPI settings and plenty of ergonomic comfort, certainly more than enough to justify the price tag.

Performance was very impressive and the Avago 9800 sensor combined with the Omron switches adds up to solid and reliable gaming performance that should disappoint. While the mouse does feel at home for day to day internet browsing and work, it’s really more at home when playing Battlefield 3, League of Legends and any game for that matter, this is where it truly shines through as a great mouse.

Pros

  • Sleek design
  • Competitive price
  • Great software
  • Programmable buttons

Cons

  • Sensor can be a bit erratic at ultra high DPI settings

“Great looks, solid performance and a price tag that doesn’t make your hurt your wallet. CM Storm have proven once again that they really know how to make a great gaming peripheral.”
