Cooler Master Eisberg 120L Prestige Liquid Cooler Review

Since the Eisberg 120L doesn’t have PWM fans we decided it would be best to take the “middle voltage” of 7 volts to test both the fans and pump at for stock. This seems the most likely way people would use this cooler. At 7 volts we saw the 120L prestige do immensely well for its size.

In the acoustic department the Eisberg 120L Prestige was let down by the acoustics, but for a water cooling AIO it was reasonably competitive. However, its pump is a lot noisier than the competition.

Overclocking shows us that the 120L definitely packs a punch. At 12 volts in can catch 240mm radiators but it doesn’t perform any better than the Asetek based Water 3.0 Pro which I might add is much cheaper. If you consider 7 volts is the optimal point between noise and performance again we can see it still falls slightly behind the Water 3.0 Pro. At 5 volts it drops back to Corsair H90 levels, which is also another Asetek unit. You can’t help but feel for the price this unit is lacking a bit in performance. Sure it has got high quality parts and an innovative design but in the real world a 30mm thick 120mm radiator can only go so far, and I think the Eisberg 120L is very much limited by its thin radiator. Though it is still “better than” the Water 3.0 Pro on the basis that the Cooler Master Eisberg 120L spins at 1600RPM at maximum while the Water 3.0 Pro does 2000 RPM – which is significantly louder.

At 5 volts the Eisberg 120L is very competitive, at 7 volts the noise would also be reasonable inside most cases but you’d still be able to hear it due to the pump. At 12 volts it is just way too loud to use. Most of the noise comes from the pump which does make a whirring/buzzing/whining noise at all speeds, it is noticeable at all voltages but really noticeable from 7 volts upwards. The fans in general are pretty g00d and quiet. The reason there is no load/idle variance is because we used fixed fan/pump voltages of 5v/7v/12v for all the tests.
