Cooler Master Excalibur 120mm Fan Review

In the UK the Cooler Master Excalibur 120mm fan sets you back £11 while in the USA its $18.99.

The Cooler Master Excalibur doesn’t deliver anything “special” in terms of acoustic performance but then again its a very reasonably priced fan. Airflow is a bit weak considering the Reeven fan which is similarly priced nearly blew itself off the table whilst the Excalibur merely wobbled. Although that’s hardly a scientific test, the Reeven fan delivered noticeably more airflow but with an equivalent acoustic output and it costs a similar amount.

As we always think, given the fact the Excalibur has PWM controls it is best suited for a CPU heatsink, VGA cooler or radiator fan. Given the fact its also been designed with static pressure in mind, hence why the airflow is a bit disappointing, you’d be making a good decision pairing this up with a dense heatsink or radiator to take advantage of the static pressure generation.

Its also worth mentioning this fan does look pretty good, it has an aggressive design that would suit any gamer-style case/system well. The removable fan blades is a nice touch too, it makes cleaning the fan very easy and is useful if you want to give your CPU heatsink fan a clean without having to unmount the fan.

Overall, the Cooler Master Excalibur is a decent fan and the fact it offers PWM controls makes it flexible enough to suit a wide range of uses. However, at £11/$19 it is an average fan and isn’t really anything special in terms of airflow or acoustic performance. But if you’re looking for a safe choice and the trademark Cooler Master reliability and build quality then this could be a good buy for you.
