Final Thoughts

Price

Cooler Master has informed us that the Hyper 212 Black Edition will retail for a price in the region of £29.99. With the product only releasing last week, we have not yet been able to confirm this, however, such a figure is very consistent with the pricing model they have applied for the model in the past and in terms of the performance, is representative of excellent value. This might be inexpensive, but don’t be fooled into thinking this is cheap. For £29.99 you are getting an exceptionally strong CPU cooler!

We should note that an RGB version of this cooler is also available, albeit with a slightly higher price tag of £42.99. Is the RGB worth that extra £13? You’d have to decide on that.

Design and Ease Of Use

The installation of the cooler was remarkably straightforward. That isn’t, however, unusual for Cooler Master who in my experience have always provided a nice and logical installation. Is it the simplest? No. In terms of understanding it though, their manual is excellent and overall, anyone with any experience in coolers (a lot or none!) will find it more than intuitive enough to ensure you have it on your system within 10-20 minutes and free of any mistakes.

Overview

For less than £30, you are into some muddy waters in terms of CPU coolers. You would not struggle to find a lot of options at this price, but very few that offer a performance that is notably better than the stock cooler your CPU probably came with. This isn’t, however, the case with the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition.

Cooler Master has again found room to improve on what, in my opinion at least, remains one of the best entry-level CPU coolers out there. It’s sleek design and excellent performance beats out many alternatives which are easily double the price!

Is it ultra high-performance? No, of course not and if you were expecting that for this price you’re a fool! In terms of what it offers though, the Hyper 212 Black Edition can handle keeping your CPU cool while looking good. It would even suit the needs of those who push their CPU’s with moderate overclocks.

Usually, a cooler like this would fall under our ‘bang for buck’ category award. Given how excellent is it though, this simply has to get our Editor’s Choice.

In a nutshell – The Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition is an excellent update whose performance under testing more than allows the King of budget coolers to keep its crown!
