Cooler Master Masterkeys Pro M RGB Keyboard Review

Final Thoughts

Price

The Cooler Master Masterkeys Pro M is available from today with an MSRP of £109.99. That’s a lot of money, but given the vast amount of features that are built right into the keyboard, we think it’s easily competitive with any other £100+ keyboard on the market today.

Overview

This isn’t the first Masterkeys keyboard I’d reviewed here at eTeknix, and to a certain extent, I doubt it will be the last. Every single time, I’ve been left impressed with the overall quality of Cooler Master keyboards, and they’ve a long history of being regarded as some of the most durable and reliable on the market for good reason. There’s not a huge change in features or design for this keyboard compared to its bigger and its little brother version, but it’s got everything you could ask for from a high-end gaming keyboard, and we certainly can’t find anything to complain about.

Tired of desktop software to make all your lighting, macro, report rate and other changes for your keyboard? You don’t need it at all here, the powerful built-in controller and storage of the Pro M deals with it all on-the-fly. As some of you may know, software typically isn’t allowed in pro gaming tournaments, so having all your profiles on-board is essential. With just a couple of key taps, you can code new macros, lighting profiles and more to suit your needs, and that’s a clear advantage for the Pro M.

The lighting is slick and easy to use, and while the built-in effects are likely enough for most people, creating your own custom designs is a lot of fun, if you can drag yourself away from playing Snake directly on the keyboard LEDs that is!

I’m not a huge fan of 90% keyboards, I like my full number pad and arrow keys, but I know there’s a growing market for them. This keyboard feels more refined, focused and most important of all, it’s smaller without actually sacrificing on any features due to some of the keys being dual function. If you crave the compact design of a more portable keyboard, the Pro M is one of the best choices out there.

Pros

  • Compact 90% design
  • Available in white and RGB LED variants
  • Built-in multimedia controls
  • On-the-fly customisation
  • Rock solid build quality
  • Detachable USB cable
  • Fully mechanical

Cons

  • None

“The Cooler Master Masterkeys Pro M comes packed with all the features you would expect from a high-end keyboard, with on-the-fly RGB led lighting, macros, and more! Best of all, it all comes wrapped up in a neat and tidy 90% form factor.”
