Final Thoughts

Price

The Cooler Master MasterPulse will be available at all the usual retailers online in store by the end of August. With a suggested retail price of just £59.99, the MasterPulse are very good value for money, not cheap, but you do get a lot of quality and fantastic sound that makes them very competitive for the paper in your wallet.

Overview

The MasterPulse in-ear headphones impressed us recently when we reviewed them, with their unique bass tuning technology that allowed you to EQ the sound mechanically on the back of the ear buds. They were great for gaming and music at home and on the go. With that in mind, the new over-ear design promises much of the same, but on a grander scale. Much bigger and more powerful drivers, better noise suppression and a built-in microphone. Thankfully for CoolerMaster and for you, the upgrade is immediately apparent and the performance of the over-ear model is simply stunning.

The Bass-FX technology may leave some of you sceptical, but it’s something that you cannot deny once you’ve tried it. With the backplates in place, this headset is more on the treble side, making it fantastic for competitive FPS gaming, where hearing enemy footsteps not ambient explosions is key to success. Put those backplates back on, however, and the headset roars to life with a deep low-end EQ, bringing the depth and detail to movies, music, and gaming. Personally, I would always leave them off, but it’s nice that people have the choice here.

Build quality is incredible, with a durable aluminium frame that blends well with the very nicely finished plastics and softer padding materials, giving the headset a dark, futuristic and industrial type design. The addition of that bold red cable is nice too, giving the headset the hint of colour it needs, but not oversaturating it like many gaming headsets do.

Given this is the 3.5mm standard model of the headset, with USB, LED lit and more models coming later this year and early next year as CoolerMaster continue to expand their new ranges, the MasterPulse is a very strong market contender already. It’s already one of the best looking and sounding headsets we’ve seen, so we’re already excited to see how CoolerMaster improve the range over time.
