Cooler Master MK750 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

A Closer Look

Cooler Master has gone all out with their latest keyboard design, and it shows, as it’s one slick looking piece of kit. Finished in a gorgeous gunmetal black, it’s got a beautifully glossy and inky black finish that gives it a nice premium quality look and feel. With the body made from beautifully finished plastics and aluminium, it looks and feels every bit the premium product it should.

Build for a no-fuss gaming setup, the MK750 uses a slim body design which takes up less room on your desktop and just looks smarter in general. Because the chassis is metal, the detachable wrist rest can snap onto the front magnetically too. Of course, that means none of those awful easy-to-break clips we used to see on keyboard wrist rests, phew!

At the absolute basic level, this keyboard is pretty standard, but it’s the little details that set it apart from the crowd. The keycaps have a lovely feel to them, most likely a UV coating. They’re also nicely rounded on the corners, and while there is a slight curve front to back, the profile of the keyboard is quite flat, which is excellent for gaming.

On-The-Fly Everything

There’s no desktop software for this keyboard, which is excellent for those who like a clutter-free OS. Of course, that’s not going to stop you from tinkering, as the keyboard can be fully customised on-the-fly. With the F1-F4 keys, you’ll find controls for the lighting, allowing you to tweak every key to the hue you desire the most. This is great for creating custom layouts, or just something that looks awesome to show off to your mates.

There are more lighting controls here, allowing you to change the effects and brightness too. You don’t typically see these controls built-in either, so it’s nice that Cooler Master has gone the extra mile while maintaining a no software setup.

Here you will find the Windows Lock, which is obviously handy for gamers. There’s little worse than playing CS:GO, hitting Windows Key, and looking at your desktop mid-battle. Of course, there are even more buttons here, with on-the-fly macro recording and lighting recording. This means you can quickly configure complex macros mid-game. Of course, this is ideal for MOBA and MMORPG gaming, where repetitive commands are commonplace.

We’re not done yet! Here you’ll find repeat settings, allowing you to tweak the macros even further and set up their pattern. Furthermore, PGUP and PGDN have the master volume controls on there too.

What’s is this madness?! More controls, of course, allowing you to change rate and cycle direction of the keyboard’s lighting. Think we’re done yet? Nope.

Dedicated Multimedia Controls

Up in the top right, there are four dedicated multimedia controls. I love keyboards with these, as I tend to listen to custom playlists while I’m gaming. Being able to skip through songs without pausing or tabbing out of my game is a big win for me, and most likely for a lot of people.

Of course, a full-size keyboard means a full-size number pad. The number pad is pretty self-explanatory really.

Around the back, you can see that the MK750 sits nice and low, with a slim body chassis. The chassis is exceptionally compact and light for a mechanical keyboard, which is quite nice as it could make it easier to transport to LAN gaming events.

On the underside, things look neat and tidy. Tough rubber grips keep the keyboard firmly planted.

Two large and durable rubber feet will increase the height of the low-profile design isn’t to your liking.

I love that they’ve used USB Type-C, as it means less fussing around with the cable. If you don’t know what Type-C is, it’s a USB cable that can be inserted either way around, making it much easier to work with.
