Acoustics
Noise is generally the bain of most consumers lives and in the hope of finding the quietest operation, we feel it’s necessary to show you the audio level of components. We use the same components throughout this test and use a sound level meter to record the audio level of the system. Once we have the level recorded at idle, we simulate a load using software and measure the level again.
To measure the acoustics, we placed our sound level meter 2cm away from the unit as anything further away had trouble picking up any noise from the cooler. The rest of our system was silent and the ambient sound in the room was around 30dBA. At 52.8dBA on idle, it may seem high to some, but is actually quite a low amount of noise and on idle is barely audiable. On load, you can hear a distinct difference but it’s not something you would mind so much when gaming of playing a movie, which is when you are likely to hike things up in the fan speed department anyway.
