Core Ultra 200K Plus Could Be Officially Announced on March 11
Intel is scheduled to officially announce its new Core Ultra 200K Plus processor lineup, also known as “Arrow Lake Refresh,” this Wednesday, March 11.
Although it was first rumored that the launch would happen at the end of the month, a leaked dual non-disclosure agreement (NDA) suggests a two-phase release. The first phase will take place on March 11, likely as the official public presentation. A second date, March 23, has also been mentioned and could mark the end of the review embargo and retail availability.
The launch will not be limited to the desktop market. Intel is also expected to introduce the “HX Plus” variants for high-end laptops at the same time, strengthening its laptop lineup for the first half of 2026.
Flagship Core Ultra 9 290K Plus Reportedly Canceled
One of the most interesting pieces of news is the apparent cancellation of the flagship model, the Core Ultra 9 290K Plus. Reports from industry partners suggest that Intel decided to cancel this model because it did not offer a significant increase in core count compared to the base model. As a result, the performance difference was not large enough to justify its release.
Instead, the focus will shift to the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus and the Core Ultra 5 250K Plus. These models will include improvements, mainly through an increase in the number of efficiency cores (E-Cores). For example, the 270K Plus will feature 16 E-Cores, up from 12 in the 265K. The 250K Plus will increase to 12 E-Cores, compared to 8 in the 245K.
Beyond the core count changes, the “Plus” series will also bring an important memory upgrade. Intel has officially confirmed that these processors will support DDR5-7200 CUDIMM memory natively. This should provide better stability and improved performance in tasks that depend on memory speed.
With this refresh, Intel aims to strengthen its position in the market against AMD. It remains to be seen whether the performance gains and pricing will be enough to compete directly with Ryzen processors.
