Corsair About to Make Their RGB Tech Truly Next-Gen

Corsair Capellix LED

The RGB market is pretty broad these days, but well, it’s also all very similar too. Corsair has certainly led the charge when it comes to featuring lighting technology in their products. Their keyboards, chassis, mice, coolers and more are plastered with blinky lights for your customisation pleasure. However, their new Capellix shrinks down the LED quite a lot. Normally, an LED is around 2.8mm3. However, the new ones are just 0.2mm3.

Too Small?

Absolutely not! Because despite their smaller size, they’re 60% brighter, 60% more efficient, and required 40% less power than the current technology. That’s a freaking huge leap in the technology and is sure to put Corsair at the front of the pack yet again. Not only that, but Corsair has the patents, the production line, and well… they just own it.

Lower power requirements and brighter more compact lights open up a huge range of possibilities for Corsair. No doubt we’ll see a wave of new hardware from them using the tech. Take the new Dominator 2019 memory for example. The lower power of the RGB lights means they can have 12 aRGB LEDs per module, but now push up to 4800 MHz speeds!

The memory is launching in February, so we’ll get hands-on with the tech then. However, I can’t wait to see how this new technology could be used in other ways. Corsair’s PR guy said he wanted to make a tie or some shorts out of the new LEDs, and honestly, I would love to see that.
