Corsair Apologizes After Canceling DDR5 Memory Orders
What first looked like the deal of the year for hardware fans quickly turned into a marketing headache for Corsair. The company has issued a public apology after canceling multiple orders for DDR5 memory kits that were mistakenly listed at a much lower price on its official store.
The issue affected 48GB DDR5 memory kits from the high-end Dominator Titanium RGB lineup, leaving many customers disappointed after their orders were canceled.
A Pricing Error That Sparked Massive Interest
The situation began when users noticed that these premium DDR5 kits were listed for around $240. Considering that their normal market price is well above $500, the deal spread rapidly across Reddit and hardware forums. As expected, many users rushed to place orders before the offer disappeared.
Shortly after, Corsair started sending cancellation emails. The company explained that a system error caused not only incorrect pricing but also showed stock availability for products that were no longer produced or available for pre-order.
Apologies, Discounts, and Customer Frustration
To ease the situation, Corsair initially offered a 15% discount code for future purchases. However, this move only made things worse, as many customers reported that the codes were expired or did not work on the products they wanted.
Facing growing criticism and accusations of false advertising, Corsair responded again by issuing a corrected offer: a 40% discount specifically for available DRAM memory kits.
In an official statement, Corsair admitted that on January 1, 2026, its US website displayed incorrect pricing and inventory information for a memory kit that was no longer in production. Thousands of orders were placed within hours. Once the issue was fixed on January 2, the company began canceling orders and notifying customers.
Corsair also acknowledged that the original email contained incorrect information about the discount code’s expiration. Later that same day, affected customers received a new email with the corrected 40% discount. The company admitted that its communication did not meet its own standards and apologized for the confusion caused by multiple emails and messages.
While most online stores reserve the right to cancel orders due to pricing errors, this incident has clearly impacted Corsair’s reputation. The company says it has already made changes to prevent similar issues in the future.
