Corsair Carbide 300R Mid-Tower Chassis Review

Overall I do like the Corsair 300R, it’s a great looking chassis and offers just enough features to suit the needs of your average user, but it’s not without a few drawbacks.

So lets quickly get a few minor issues out of the way first. Having such a large side panel window really effects rigidity not only in the side panel, but the chassis overall. The system isn’t cut from the thickest of panels, but it’s on par with the rest of the market within this price range, yet the side panel could have done with being thicker around the edges. The side panel with the window does flex and strain quite a bit when installing or removing it and I fear this could put fatal strain on the acrylic window if handled poorly.

There’s only room for 4 hard drives and while these can be 2.5″ or 3.5″ drives, it may not be enough for some people and doesn’t leave much room for future hard drive installations should you require a lot of storage.

Lastly it’s not the most sound proof chassis ever, the lighter materials used are of a good quality, but with so much ventilation and a large window you’re not going to get much noise dampening here.

These are of course minor issues, handle the chassis properly and you won’t damage that lovely window, think about how much storage you need to install before purchase and use good quality fans to reduce noise and non of these minor issues will effect you.

Now the good stuff, the style of this chassis is fantastic, it’s sleek and bold at the same time and that side panel window gives you a fantastic view of your components. Should you wish to fit this chassis with some case lighting, this system will quite literally shine. Corsair are also a strong brand name, as such this is quite a cool product to own. Your system will look fantastic in this chassis, it will have plenty of cooling and still have room for a multi GPU setup.

Overall it’s a great chassis, not perfect but certainly one of the better choices within this price range, which is why I am happy to award it with our eTeknix Editors Choice Award.
