Corsair Changes Vengeance DDR5 Packaging to Prevent Counterfeit Returns
Corsair, one of the leading brands in the RAM market, has announced a change in the packaging of its popular Vengeance DDR5 memory lineup.
With this packaging change, Corsair aims to solve two main problems: counterfeit product sales and so-called return fraud involving fake or decorative modules.
Corsair Switches To Plastic Packaging For Vengeance DDR5
Until recently, Vengeance memory kits were sold in the brand’s well-known yellow cardboard boxes. However, this format made it easier for scammers to replace the original memory modules with older sticks, metal weights, or even “Light Enhancement Kits” — aesthetic modules that only include RGB lighting but no actual memory. These altered packages were then resealed and returned for a refund.
The new design replaces cardboard with a transparent plastic package made from recycled materials. Thanks to the clear casing, customers and retailers can visually confirm that the product inside matches the label before breaking the warranty seal.
Corsair stated (thanks VideoCardz):
Since early January, we have been introducing new packaging across all the VENGEANCE DDR5 (non-RGB, RGB and RGB RS) SKUs in a 2-module configuration. The packaging of these series are transitioning from traditional cardboard boxes to a sealed plastic clamshell made from recycled plastic (the new material provides ESD protection as well.)
To further increase protection, Corsair has added a security label that wraps around the package closure. This seal is designed to break when someone tries to open it, making it impossible to tamper with the product and reseal it without leaving visible signs.
For now, this change applies to two-module kits in the Vengeance DDR5, Vengeance RGB, and RGB RS series. With this move, Corsair not only protects its customers’ investment but also improves transparency in its memory business.
