Corsair Hydro Series H110 Liquid CPU Cooler Review

The Asetek mounting kit with the Corsair H110 is very good, it gives a very firm mount and is relatively simple. The only things to watch out for are: making sure the screw holes in the backplate are pushed firmly in (if they are not they will just turn round and round as you screw and not secure properly) and, if you are mounting on LGA 1155, don’t be put off by the fact the backplate is very wonky when lined up with the holes – it still works perfectly well. The provided instruction manual gives simple and clear instructions so refer to that as first preference.

As the Corsair H110 shares the same pump design as the Corsair H55, NZXT Kraken X40, NZXT Kraken X60, Thermaltake Water 2.0 Extreme and many many others, we have just re-used the image of the Corsair H55 installation. You will get 100% RAM compatibility. The only thing I want to point out is that there is no “Y-splitter” cable. This means you have a 3pin connector for the pump, and two 4 pin connectors – one for each of the fans. In total that is three things that need to be connected to the motherboard and most systems will only have two headers by the CPU socket. Therefore it is recommendable that you plug both the fans into the CPU socket headers and power the pump directly from the PSU. You could also acquire a “Y-splitter” cable and power both fans off a single motherboard header OR power the fans directly from the power supply. There are a lot of options so be inventive.

The main questions of compatibility with the Corsair H110 come with regards to the case and motherboard combination you are using. Do some research because this is a very niche product and will not fit in most cases. You are going to need adequate space for the radiator at the top of your case as well as two 140mm fan spaces with the correct 20mm fan spacing between them. If you have any questions on compatibility then please post them in the comments below or over on the eTeknix forum and we will endeavour to answer those for you.
