Corsair‘s popular K70 RGB mechanical keyboards are getting new low-profile variants. Instead of the typical Cherry MX switches, these make use of the latest Cherry MX low profile speed and low profile red switches. It still has the cross stem compatible with other keycaps, except the mounting base is shrunk down and the stem also has a circular housing.
Corsair actually has the exclusive rights tot he Cherry MX speed low-profile switches. So you won’t see any keyboard in the market using this variant in particular. The actuation point is at 1.0mm, while the low-profile red has a 1.2mm actuation distance. The actual keyboard profile itself is only 29mm tall.
As usual, Corsair packs the K70 RGB MK.2 with RGB LED backlighting per key. The keycaps themselves are also shorter by default. This allows the transparent housing of the switches to shine through and further illuminate with various colour options. These colours are fully customizable via the iCUE software.
The frame is made of anodized aluminium and it comes with a detachable full-coverage palm rest. Corsair also provides textured replacement keycaps for WASD and QWERDF. Which come in handy especially for those who game a lot.
In terms of functionality, like any gaming keyboard it provides full NKRO and 100% anti-ghosting via USB. This ensures that all keypresses are registered correctly when the user wants to, and not bottlenecked by USB polling rates.
The K70 RGB MK.2 low-profile keyboard is available for $169.99 USD.
