Corsair Obsidian 500D Mid-Tower Chassis Review

Complete System

Building a system inside the 500D really couldn’t have been much easier. There’s a fantastic amount of space on the interior of the chassis, making it very easy to install your hardware. There’s certainly more than enough room for even the biggest GPUs on the market today, and obviously enough for our “humble” 1080 Ti.

Those wishing to invest in multiple GPUs will have no issues here either, and there’s plenty of extra width to accomodate side mounted custom loop cooling pipes. The vertical pass-through for cables works well enough. However, one closer to the window side of the case would be even better.

Loads of Space!

Up in the front, you’ll find an extensive amount of radiator and fan space.

There are mounts in the base to support reservoir and pump hardware too as required. I like this use of the space, rather than just having a longer PSU shroud if it’s not required.

Cable Routing

Cable routing in the front of the chassis is fantastic. There are very few cables on show, and the cable tidy system and PSU shroud gobble up any excess wires easily enough too.

The CPU cooler clearance is excellent too. Obviously, since we’ve got a huge Noctua NH-D15S installed with room to spare.

Around the Back

Even around the back, everything is looking extremely clean too. It could be even better with a modular PSU, but with the PSU shroud, all those extra cables are easily put out of the way. Of course, with glass on this side of the chassis too, good cable management is important. Plus, you can flex your new RGB SSDs here, right?

More Tricks

Now with the side panels back in place, we can begin to close the door on another build for the day. However, I never did show you that lovely dust filter did I?

It’s in the front behind the aluminium, and when you open the glass, you can lift it right out. It’s mounted with magnets, so it’s pretty darn easy to get to.

All closed up and ready to rock. The tint on the windows is perfect for showing off the LED highlights in your build too!
