Corsair MP500 M.2 NVMe SSD

Moving beyond SATA storage, Corsair has unveiled their new MP500 M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen. 3 x4 SSDs featuring a Phison PS5007-E7 NVMe controller. This controller was also used in the Patriot Hellfire and MyDigitalSSD BPX NVMe drives recently reviewed here at eTeknix that offer lower cost alternatives to existing Toshiba or Samsung based NVMe drives while vastly outperforming Intel’s 750 series and as a much superior alternative to the new budget Intel’s 600p series.

The Corsair MP500 is available in 120GB, 240GB and 480GB capacities in an M.2 2280 form factor. This means it is 22mm wide and 80mm long so it should be compatible with most motherboards with a built-in M.2 slot compared to longer 22110 drives which are 110mm long.

For peace of mind during operation, the Corsair MP500 has proprietary SmartECC™, SmartRefresh™ and SmartFlush™ technologies safeguard data against corruption in case of unexpected power loss or unsafe shutdown, while static and dynamic wear-leveling enhance drive reliability. For further monitoring, maintenance and in the event of a firmware update requirement, the Corsair MP500 is compatible with Corsair’s SSD toolbox. All three models are covered with a three-year warranty.
