Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB 2800MHz DDR4 Review

Final Thoughts

Pricing (accurate at the time of writing)

Corsair’s Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 2800MHz memory kit retails for £289.99 at Overclockers in the UK in blackblue and red. In the USA it can be had for $384.99 at Amazon (Black | Blue | Red) and $384.99 at Newegg (Black | Blue | Red). Corsair’s Vengeance LPX memory kit comes with a lifetime warranty.  As far as I am aware, a white version is expected at a later date.

Summary

Corsair’s Vengeance LP series of DDR3 memory kits were incredibly popular for their attractive pricing, plentiful availability, variety of capacities, frequencies and choices of colours. For those same reasons I expect Corsair’s Vengeance LPX series of DDR4 memory kits will also be incredibly popular, especially when mainstream DDR4 uptake arrives with Intel’s “Skylake” platform. For now, the popularity will be limited due to the expensive X99 platform costs that are needed for DDR4 but nonetheless, X99 users should take note of Corsair’s Vengeance LPX offerings. Okay so they aren’t going to smash any world records or appeal to extreme overclockers, but to power users who want high performance components with reasonable price tags and good looks – this kit is worthy of strong consideration.

Of course at this price point and in this market segment there is stiff competition from ADATA, Crucial, Kingston, G.Skill and many more. Everyone wants a piece of the high-end memory market but at least Corsair have size on their side. On this occasion when size does matter it is being smaller that’s the advantage – who’d have thought?

Pros

  • Low profile design
  • Variety of colours
  • Lifetime warranty
  • XMP sorts out BCLK issue

Cons

  • Some slower capacities are needed (2400/2133)
  • No 8GB module kits yet
  • Overclocking was limited

“Corsair’s Vengeance LPX memory offer high performance in a small package, perfect for any compact X99 system. Competitive pricing, a range of colours and a lifetime warranty mean this kits has something to offer for everyone.”
