Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3 1866MHz 16GB Memory Kit Review

Final Thoughts

Pricing

In the UK we are seeing pricing of £139.99 and £122.59 at our preferred retailers. In the USA we are seeing typical pricing of $159.99 and in Canada we are seeing a price of about $175.60. In context we typically see 16GB (2 X 8GB) 1866MHz memory kit go for about £115-135/US$145-160/CA$145-175 so we can see that the Corsair Vengeance Pro is not the cheapest memory on the market but it does fall within the competitive price regions for what it is. It is worth noting that the cheaper 16GB (2X8GB) 1866MHz kits actually tend to be the Corsair Vengeance kits anyway. One final point to mention is that the price of each different colour (red, blue, silver and gold) does vary as much as +-10% and does vary between retailers – there is no uniform pricing on the different colours.

Conclusions

I think our testing makes it clear that the Vengeance Pro 1866MHz kit from Corsair performs right where it should. Once we factor in overclocking you can see why these kits cost a bit extra because the specially picked ICs designed for overclocking really do overclock well. We were able to jump from 1866MHz to 2176MHz a hefty 310MHz or 16% increase – which is excellent for any memory kit. Additionally the units run their rated XMP frequency at just 1.5 volts hence why we were able to overclock so far using the industry-standard 1.65 volts for those high clocks.

In my opinion the Vengeance Pro kit ticks all the other boxes too. Being at the lower end of the Venegance Pro frequency range it comes in at a very affordable price. It boasts the very sleek looking aluminium design which is customisable so excellent for enthusiastic system builders who like to colour co-ordinate their systems. Finally the Corsair lifetime limited warranty is the deal sweetener and if you weren’t convinced up to now than that is definitely something that should sway your opinion.
