Installation

Starting with the manual, while it is a little basic only coming in black and white, the information provided is nice and large with clear diagrams and written instructions to help you along the way. As the manual is such an essential part of an AIO (you know, so you can actually install it correctly), Cougar has done well to provide something that’s easy to understand and easy on the eye!

Mounting

One of the more tricky aspects of AIO designs can often be the installation of the mounting bracket to the pump head. In many cases, this can be exceptionally fiddly work, with small screws, and where having 3 pairs of hands is, at the very least, advantageous. Fortunately, the Cougar Aqua 240 provides one of the simplest and fastest solutions available.

The mounting bracket comes in a C-shape that simply slides over a recessed area in the pump meaning you can fit the right design for your socket within literally seconds.

Aside from this really helpful feature, the mounting system to the motherboard is otherwise fairly standard and, if you have any knowledge of AIO coolers, it should be more than a little intuitive as to what you have to do.

Overall Thoughts

From out of the box and onto our test bench, the Cougar Aqua 240 took us roughly 10 minutes to install. This was massively helped, in no small part, due to that excellent design seen in the pump head mounting clip that easily took at least 5 minutes off the usual installation time we’d see in a 240mm AIO cooler. With the excellent and detailed manual, this cooler is well suited for both experienced or new hands to AIO coolers and doesn’t provide any notable issues beyond the simple fact of needing a screwdriver. – If you’ve got that, and two hands, you’re already 90% there here!
