COUGAR DarkBlader X7 Midnight Green Case Review

Exterior

They say first impressions are important, and thankfully the DarkBlader X7 makes a great first impression! It looks pretty slick, with clean lines, and a huge tempered glass window down the left side, allowing you to show off your new build. I like that they’ve not put screws on the side either, leaving the glass looking neat and tidy. Of course, there’s one more thing you simply cannot ignore, and that’s the green finish of the case. It’s not super vibrant or anything, it’s rather subtle, but it is there, and I really like it; it’s nice to see something unique once in a while.

The front panel looks great, with an angular design and a large vertical air intake for the front-mounted fans. While some may prefer a higher airflow design, this side loading approach will result in less fan noise, and it also looks pretty neat and tidy too.

The branding is kept to a minimum, with just a small Cougar logo in the bottom right corner.

The right side panel is flush-mounted just like the glass is on the left side. Of course, this side doesn’t have a window, it’s just a solid steel panel, but it looks presentable enough.

Upon the top of the case, you’ll find a huge amount of ventilation. This can provide passive heat exhaust for your system, which is always a nice bonus.

However, there are fan/radiator mounts below that magnetic dust filter, giving you lots of room to expand your cooling configuration.

The front I/O panel is nicely laid out, with easily accessible power controls, three USB ports, and the usual audio jacks. No USB-C here, but two of the ports are USB 3.x.

Around the back of the DarkBlader X7, you’ll find a single rear fan mount with a 120mm VORTEX fan pre-installed.

Below that, you’ll find all of the expansion slots that come with reusable metal covers, allowing for quick and easy changes to your system configuration. There’s also a pair of vertical mounts, so you can show off your GPU; you’ll need your own riser cable though.
